French Tulle Marine Musket circa 1743
This reproduction French Tulle Marine contract musket dates from around 1743. This musket features a 44 inch long barrel that is 69 caliber as per the Tulle contract. It is similar to the model 1728 St. Anne and Charleville with a few minor changes. The barrel is 2 inches shorter than the standard army contract musket, and the stock features the "Tulle" butt plate. It again differs from the standard army musket because it does NOT have a bridled frizzen. One of the biggest differences between this musket and its standard army counterpart is this musket retained the octagon to round barrel whereas the army has an octagonal barrel for only 2-4 inches and then it fades into a round tapered barrel. This musket is very light weight and comfortable to fire. It features simple lines that are pleasing to the hand and eye.

Featured here is arguably the most famous and recognized musket from the flint lock age...the Brown Bess. This model being a reproduction of a 1756 pattern Kings model "Brown Bess" with a 1766 Grice lock. This style musket was imported into the "colonies" from the crown during the French & Indian War.
